With a great attendance and strong bidding, the Philips June auction delivered amazing results for buyers and sellers alike, with strong sales in all categories including furniture, paintings and crockery; and in particular a complete clearance of a particularly fine range of silver and clocks.

Decorative arts performed very strongly with many fascinating items achieving great results, including a wonderful Schutz-Marke disc music box selling for $2,300, a Qianlong style rose punchbowl pushing to a very pleasing $5,120, plus a stylish bronze art deco figural group at the high end of estimate and an impressive timber birdcage and display table that exceeded all expectations.

Both furniture and crockery performed very well with great interest in an oak Louis XIII style bookcase excelling at $1,580, a most impressive transitional style tulipwood marquetry chest for more than double estimate, and a captivating Minton Parian Ware statue of 'Solitude' that also dazzled with its demonstrated popularity and rewarding outcome.

Both mens and ladies watches were strong performers at the Modern and Antique Jewellery auction held the following evening, along with a great range of sapphires and pendants sourced from a single collection. Great results were forthcoming in all categories with particularly pleasing outcomes for a pair of intense medium green Columbian emerald earrings at $3,900, a magnificent aquamarine and diamond cluster dress ring, and an Edwardian necklet that sold to a most determined bidder at well above estimate. Our online auctions now feature a lot of these items.

Our next auction in August promises to be a blockbuster with an outstanding selection of porcelain, furniture and jewellery, plus a large selection of paintings including a work by Will Ashton and over 100 works on offer from a large estate. Doors open at 11am for registration with the auction commencing at 12pm.
