Triple Auction Action
This August at Philips is a very special month with the extraordinary bonanza of three separate major auctions spread over three consecutive days. Beginning on Sunday afternoon, we will kick off with a packed Decorative Arts sale with over 600 lots of high quality items including fine furniture, French clocks, and early English porcelain all from a single estate; and a most important and unusual offering of Irish porcelain. Following this exciting event will be a compact, super high quality Modern and Antique Jewellery auction on Monday evening, leading up to the outstanding pocket watch sale on Tuesday evening that wraps up a terrific trifecta of auction excitement.

Huge turnout at Philips
Setting a record for attendance, the Philips May auction was a huge success with a large and enthusiastic crowd spilling out into the foyer for most of the afternoon. With over 240 determined bidders the sales results were tremendous and saw great results for furniture, with commodes in particular selling out completely. Antique Chinese artefacts were a solid feature of this auction, and with such strong bidding, many lots sold quickly and significantly above estimate. Highlights included a wonderful carved jade medallion pendant from the Qing Dynasty selling for $1,460, a striking cloisonné stand, and a well-crafted rosewood altar table.
Clocks are just the Ticket!
With over 480 lots of sought after antiques and decorative arts on offer at the Philips May auction, there will be many opportunities for great buying and exceptional value. Complete with a great collection of silverware, glass and porcelain, this month’s event also sports a great choice of furniture, rugs and a wide range of desirable artworks.
A fabulous offering of clocks and bronze figurines provides a May highlight, including a captivating art deco dancing girl bronze figure by Limousin, a beautiful inlaid rosewood and ormolu portico clock with timber floral inlay, and many fine examples of garnitures and French mantle clocks. A particularly delightful carriage clock with ornate decoration is sure to attract great interest from keen buyers.
